At home again

Every year I come to Vitoria to stay with my family and friends again during Christmas. Vitoria is a quite cold place, I think I forgot my days in Finland, where winter made us deal with -5 to -15 degrees almost everyday!

Anyway, it’s nice to meet everybody again. But as years pass by, I feel more like a foreigner here. It’s strange to read signs in Vasque, to see how people is really different here… They talk different, they wear different clothes, their faces even even look different!!

Maybe I’m becoming an andalusian… xD Yesterday my father didn’t stop telling me that it’s a pity that I speak this way, that I’ve lost my good pronunciation… :S

The thing is that I love this place. Vitoria is a really nice and comfortable city… If you don’t know it you should come and visit it!

Frankfurter Allee, my stay in Berlin

10 13th, 2007 / Tags: , ,

Our underground stop was Frankfurter Allee, we were staying at Dark Hostel, next to the K17. Our holidays in Berlin.

I love Berlin, this is the second time I go there. I love the variety of things you can visit or do. In the center, besides the Bundestag, the Museums and Alexander Platz, you always find markets in the streets, original shops, hot dogs sellers everywhere… I particularly love a bar called Barato, in Friedrischain. It’s a place where you can have dinner or a cocktail while you listen to good music (futurepop, ebm, electrodark, industrial…). Comparing to spanish prices it is quite a cheap place, and food is super! And the K17, which is three streets far away from Barato, is one of the best discos I know. They have 4 different floors, with different styles of music: 80’s, metal, electro… And they open almost everyday!

In the K17 in BerlinDuring my holidays this year I had the opportunity to meet Steve Naghavi, the singer of And One in the K17. It was quite a surprise, and I almost talked him as a crazy fan… But he was very nice, and told me they were coming to Spain in May… That night we also met a couple from Valencia (that guy on the right in the photo). Everytime I go to Berlin I meet some Spanish people who go to the K17! It seems to be quite famous.

Another thing I love from Berlin is the Out of Line Shop. Here in Malaga is really hard to find any electro music CD, so when I get to a shop as the one in Berlin I can spend more than an hour trying to decide what to buy. I know you can buy everything from the internet, but I love going to a shop where I can find everything I like, even special editions and other stuff.

I hope I can get to Berlin soon again. Now it’s time to learn some german words…

Back from Germany. Mera Luna 2007 - II

Remembering last august again, my second day in the Mera Luna. I don’t actually feel like telling anything today, so I’ll just add some photos of the festival.

Here you have Big Boy (with Chris Harms!, that was a surprise for me), a great pick of Cruxshadows (see that Sangria brick!!!) and The 69 Eyes. My photos of Diorama and Rabia Sorda aren’t as good as I wanted, as they played inside the angar and the light was quite poor.

Back from Germany. Mera Luna 2007 - I

I’ve been lost for a few weeks, because of a great amount of work and two travels to my beloved Germany… I promised to make my personal review of the Mera Luna Festival, so here it is. But just before start, I have to say that this summer has been one of the best, and at the same time, one of the strangest in my life.

First of all, I have to recognize that after been in Spktro festival in Vitoria, I didn’t have a lot of good expectations for the Mera Luna. I don’t know why, but it was that way (maybe I didn’t believe that anything could make me feel as happy as Spktro did). The day we arrived the festival (friday night) was raining cats and dogs. Rain stopped for a while and we could assemble our tents (quite an easy thing to put the pegs into the floor, as it was just mug!). It was f***ing cold! I think I just slept for half an our, we took the expensive coffee (2,50 €) and we went to Hildesheim to buy some food and drinks.

Client in Mera Luna 2007Assemblage 23 in Mera Luna 2007 After our excursion to the town (where we found quite a interesting military shop), and after missing Lola Angst :’( … we got back to the festival and went to Assemblage 23 concert. But Client was there. For a moment we were affraid that some band was missing, but they just changed the order. Client was quite soft (as they are), and then Assemblage 23 came. It was nice, but a poor bass sound made songs sound strange. Although sun was shining too much by that our, and I was really tired, I enjoyed the concert.

Covenant in Mera Luna 2007Covenant, who played the next, was great. Everybody was so excited with them that some kind of good feelings were flying around us. Sound was not perfect, but Eskil Simonsson knew how to make us feel their music. His dancing body perfectly reflected the emotions… Sound was not the best, but it sounded ok. I was so stirred that was hard trying not to cry! My Mera Luna was begining… And my friends thought the same, that concert was one of the greatest.

Steve Naghavi in Mera Luna 2007After such a great time, I went to rest for a while and to get ready for the biggest one: And One. One of my favourites, it sounded great. I loved And One show, as they make their music sound different. They sing different, they play different.. there’s always a surprise in their live songs. They played the classics, but also some new ones (that great “Military Fashion Show”!!!). Must of them were quick songs, so the concert passed as it lasted for 5 minutes!! After that concert I thought that I should learn German, as I was singing like one possessed even the songs in German.. Sorrounded by Germans… xD Some of them may laughed at me!!

That day ended after a Suicide Commando show, where I could not stay for more than 3 songs. The music was too loud and some microphone distortions made my ears hurt. It was a pitty, as I like SC very much, but I was so tired that I had to go. I went back to the tent to have another cold sleeping night.

The weather for Mera Luna 2007This is gonna be an stressing week… On Friday I’m fliying to Hannover to get to the Mera Luna festival!!! I don’t know if I have prepared everything, if I’m missing something… I’ve got my sleeping bag, a torch, an air bed… Mmmm and as I write I remmember the usefulness of a insecticide for mosquitos (I don’t know if they’re as big as in Finland, but I’m afraid of european insects!!) I hope the weather doesn’t ruin the festival, but the weather forecast (from http://www.weather.com/) is not very good… Rainy days for Saturday and Sunday!!! :(

And OneThe good news come from the festival programme, as they have changed the timetable, and now I don’t have to choose between And One and Suicide Commando!! (I’ll be ruining from And One to get to listen the first SC song! What a stressing day!)
